Let’s begin with a drink and explore some of the best alcohol that is produced in Gloucestershire. We’ve included a bottle of Three Choirs Coleridge Hill White Wine, which offers a soft floral aroma of elderflower and nettle combined with a hint of peaches to produce an elegant and lovely crisp, dry wine. Alternatively, try a Cotswold Beer or the Cotswold Cider, which are produced locally in Bourton-on-the-Water. The cider is made from 100% British juice that is not from concentrate, and is slightly cloudy for that scrumpy look – it’s refreshingly different and tastes of the apples from which it’s created.
Moving on to some of the county’s best fresh savouries, we have a utterly delicious Large Pork Pie – , as well as a Hamptons Homemade Quiche Lorraine with good mature cheddar cheese, bacon and onion, and a Roasted Vegetable Quiche, both freshly made in our kitchens. Therre are a couple of cheeses – Greystones Single Gloucester, a fabulous organic hard cheese produced in Upper Slaughter with milk from Bourton-on-the-Water, and a Stow Truckle, which is a strong farmhouse cheddar with a firm texture and a good colour. Accompany these Churchdown Homemade Chutney ,a dark, rich mixture of vegetables, fruits, and spices which also works wonderfully with pork pies and cold ham. We’ve included Oxsprings English Air Dried Ham made from locally reared pork and thinly sliced, having first been aged for a minimum of eight months and salt cured to give it a fabulous taste. Our final savoury offerings from the county include Coln Valley Smoked Chicken Breast and Smoked Salmon, both from an award-winning traditional smokery down the road from us which uses up-dated original brick kilns to produce smoked salmon ‘as it used to be’ with a wonderful mild, smoky flavour that is rarely found today.
We include some of the sweeter Goucestershire fresh goods. We’ve got a fantastic choice of tarts for you to try, all homemade in the Hamptons kitchens in Stow-on-the-Wold. Lemon Tarts which offer plenty of delicious flavour and Bakewell Tarts which are made with delicious almond paste and toasted almonds for the perfect teatime treat. This luxury hamper wouldn’t be complete without Gloucestershire chocolate, so we’ve included some Cotswold Chocolate Company Snowshill Lavender Truffles. They are beautiful assorted handmade truffles with lavender originating from Snowshill Manor – just outside Stow-on-the-Wold – and produced in the shop opposite ours. We’ve also enclosed some popular extras in the hamper, including Donnington Cotswold Butter made from Jersey cows’ milk with a deep yellow colour, Cotswold Honey which is produced just 2 miles from our shop, and finally Stow Town Ground Coffee which is roasted next door to us, offering chocolate, caramel, earthy tones and large body with a lingering taste.
Hamptons offer a range of packaging options. We can pack your hamper in a special gift box or an open wicker basket or a wicker picnic basket or in a plain Hamptons box. Purchases can be made at the shop or delivered. If the latter, we ensure that it is carefully protected with extra outer packaging with consideration for the environment to make sure that your hamper arrives safely. We use a flexible delivery service, operating a weekday 24-hour service to the UK, so you can rest assured that as long as you order in time, your hamper will reach its recipient by the day you specify.
